Everything looked so bright. It was a new day in Afghanistan. Everyone, including Christians, was welcome and allowed the most fundamental of all rights, the right to worship as our heart demands we do. Christian groups from all over the world poured in people and financial aid into this new field. Suddenly, the Afghan people had freedom of worship. The sun was shining for long repressed Afghan Christians.
The removal of the Taliban and Al-Qaeda seemed to open up the country for free exchange of ideas and a non-violent discussion of faith. Things seemed better than they had been in years. After being severely punished for the cowardly attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon bombings, and the refusal to turn over Bin Laden, the Taliban and Al-Qaeda were on their last legs as Coalition forces poured into Afghanistan.
For a while, it seemed like there was religious freedom in Afghanistan. Christian money poured freely into Afghanistan and officials knew they were playing against the clock. They knew it would end because every Muslim society fears an open exchange of ideas, and knows their repression of women would ultimately loose. The basic beliefs of Islam cannot stand up to a Christian challenge. Christian freedom vs. Muslim repression and violence will always lead to freedom. Islam has never been able to challenge Christianity on a level playing field. Islam cannot stand on its own. It is a backwards religion of forced conversions and violence to those who oppose it.
One needs to look no further than the movement that the press has dubbed "Arab Spring", which was an Islamic fundamentalist uprising in moderate Islamic countries in the spring of 2011. The American media drooled over these changes, either not caring or being too stupid to know the repercussions that would fall on Christians there.
They celebrated as countries that had been middle of the road turned completely hostile to the United States. This is what happens when Islam is allowed free reign. Because it cannot win the battle of ideas, it fears standing up against another religion because its underpinnings are fundamentally weak. The ultimate goal of the most radical form of Islam is to crush those who do not agree with their beliefs. Let us pray that we wake up soon, because the alarm clock is ringing, and no one is getting out of bed.
