Job’s Problem:
Being Too Big for His Britches

"Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it. Job 38 4-5 (NIV)

If there was anyone in the Bible that deserved to get some answers from the Lord, you would think it was Job. This man has lost his family, his wealth, and his land, one after the other after the other. Job demands some answers

Jehovah is a Sovereign God. His ways are higher than our ways, and the plans He has made are good and true. Jehovah does not need our advice, or permission to keep the universe running smoothly. Even as sad as Job’s story is, the Father makes it clear that Job, and by nature, anyone else, would do a pitiful job of keeping the universe running smoothly. It does not take long at all for Job to realize he has insulted The Lord of Hosts. Suddenly, in the purity and power El Shaddi’s radiant presence, Job feels shame. So,next time you think you could run things better than Him: ask yourself “Where were YOU when the Master was laying earth’s foundation?"
