Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.. 1 Peter 3:7 (NIV)
One of the most important things to a believer is being able to walk boldly into the throne room of Almighty God and submit our petitions to the Father. But if we are not treating our wives right, this link is broken. When we pick up the phone to call the King, we may get a busy signal. When we email the Master, we may get an auto responder. Not answering the “phone” when you call seems severe, but it also shows the seriousness God puts upon proper treatment of our wives.
They are not here just to make sure we don’t run out of clean underwear, or to keep the shower cleaned out. They are more than your maid service, On-Call Doctor, and family lost and found. They are to be treated with respect and dignity and given a full partnership in the riches and glories of eternal life. If you have a problem with that, you can take it up with the King of Kings.
