"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)
Throughout the life and Ministry of Jesus, a king, a government, a traitor, and Satan himself tried to stop the King of Kings and his plan of salvation. But this plan of salvation, written before the universe was formed, was unstoppable. The Love of the Shepherd for His lost lambs was much too strong for any worldly power to overcome. Although He slaughtered every male child two years old and under, King Herod could not stop the Deliverer and His plan for salvation. A starving Jesus, very much human, alone in the desert, was tempted with all the power of Satan. Fighting back with Scripture, He defeated Satan’s attempt to stop Him. Satan could not stop God and His plan for salvation. Throughout His three year ministry, the Jewish religious leaders, who wielded tremendous authority, tried to stop our Lord. The Pharisees and Sadducees could not stop the King of Kings and His plan for salvation.
As the King of Kings' life came to a close, Satan entered into Judas. Though Satan was successful in having the Master arrested, once again, Satan could not stop Jesus and His plan for salvation. The Roman Government crucified Him. But even the Roman Government, with all the power it had, could not stop the Prince of Peace and His plan for salvation. Finally, Death itself thought it had finished Jesus when His lifeless body was placed into a cold tomb, and a huge stone placed in front of it. But not even Death itself could overcome the love of the Son of Man and His plan of salvation. We can accept the saving sacrifice of the Master, or we can reject it. Who can do what a King, High priests and religious authorities, Satan himself, the mighty Roman Government, a traitor, and, finally, even Death itself could not do? The only one who can stop the Deliverer and His plan of salvation is you.
