“Thus God expelled him, and placed mighty angels at the east of the Garden of Eden, with a flaming sword to guard the entrance to the Tree of Life.” Genesis 3:24 (TLB)
We have all, at one time or another, done things or said things that we later wish we could correct. I believe that everyone, at least once in their life, has said or done something so stupid that, when you reflect on it, you can not understand how you could have done it. Some were minor mistakes; others changed the entire direction of your life or someone else’s. Unfortunately, man has no time machine to climb into to go back to set things right.
In all of eternity, though, one man stands out for doing something some stupid that he not only changed the course of his life, but all of his descendants forever. This man was Adam. By opening his eyes to all the evil, vile, and wicked things of the world, things he would never have to have known about, He introduced a curse onto the entire human race, a curse that lurks deep inside the heart of every man, woman, and (after passing the age of responsibility) child.
This man introduced sin and death into a world God had created to have none. He altered the plans of his Creator. Every stabbing, shooting, rape, and assault that happens can be traced back directly to one moment of eternity. We can thank Adam for that. But Jesus came and cleansed away the stain left by Adam. Open your heart to Jesus, and ask him to do a system restore to Day Six of eternity. It will take you back before the very first sin was committed, and fix your relationship with your Heavenly Father. I’ll take that over a time machine anytime.
