The Father Works Midnights

“Now in those days it occurred that He went up into a mountain to pray, and spent the whole night.” Luke 6:12 (The Amplified Bible)

Working a midnight, or, as some call it, “graveyard” shift is extremely hard on both mind and body. Expert reports have documented how it negatively affects the human body. Those who work it have less concentration than those on other shifts, and on occasion get so tired they fall asleep on the job. A man must sleep, it is a biological need. Our Heavenly Father, however, has no human limitations. The Lord of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob never needs sleep or rest is always ready to hear our prayers.

Luke gives us a rare glimpse at both the person praying and God who hears the prayers. Jesus, being both God and man, knew the Creator is always open for business. He knew The Great I am never gets bored with a prayer. So Our Redeemer, Jesus, prayed all night. But Our Lord did not open His prayer lines that night just for Jesus. This verse shows us any Believer can pray to Our Father at any time, day or night, and has Him hear. Father Jehovah commands us in His Scriptures to pray at all times and about all things. Our Master does not just work 9-5 on weekdays, with weekends and holidays off. The Lord of Hosts needs no coffee break or lunch hour.

Our prayers will never be stopped by a busy signal. The Creator’s e-mail box will never be too full to accept our prayers. His “prayer mail” server will never crash. The Lord will not answer our prayer with a recording saying “Thank You for praying. Your prayer is very important to us. God will be with you as soon as possible. Waiting time is approximately 2 hours!” God does not use an answering machine and He does not need a secretary. Our Advocate, The Messiah, is ready to take our request any time of the day or night.

The Lord of Hosts does not punch a time clock. Jehovah does not go home after He has worked 40 hours. The Great Physician needs no sick days. Our Father will not tell us to call back during non-peak hours. He will not refer us to His website. The Lord of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob hears the prayer of a Believer immediately. We are commanded to walk boldly into His throne room, we are not told to take a number for quicker service. The Heavenly Father not only welcomes our prayers, He covets them. A Believer can pray anytime, anywhere, and under any conditions with absolute confidence that our prayers go directly to the Creator. Our Eternal Father works midnights!
