"Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation" 2 Corinthians 6:2 (New King James)
knew a guy once, who thought he had figured out a
system. You probably know someone just like him. He
thought he had discovered a loophole in God's Law.
His system was basically this: eat, drink, and be
merry. Get with all the pretty ladies you can find.
Give nothing to the church because it's too full of
hypocrites. Live life worrying about no one but
yourself, you don't owe the world, you don't owe your
community, and you certainly don't owe anything to
God. This guy thought he had found a loophole in the
Bible. But had he? As Believer's, we have all been
asked, if Hitler prayed to Jesus just before he died,
would he have gone to Heaven? What about the prisoner
who cries out to Jesus for help as he is being
strapped to the electric chair? These terrible
monsters surely could not be let into Heaven, could
they? Look at all the sins they committed, they are
heinous evil sinners.
Does the Bible say there are any minor sins? Is
adultery worse than not keeping the Sabbath Holy? Is
stabbing someone in a fight less of a sin than not
honoring you mother and Father? Of course it doesn't.
If you have broken one of the Ten Commandments, you
have broken every single one of them. God did not
classify some sins as felonies and other sins as
misdemeanors... Our Master demands purity and
requires perfection... In God's eyes, you sicken him
as much as they did. The way to be clean is to be
washed in the blood of the lamb. So take that finger
you were pointing at them and turn it around until it
points to you. Now, go back and look at our
examples. Could they be in Heaven? Are they in
Heaven? Only God knows the heart and can see the
sincerity, or lack thereof, of a mans soul... Like my
friend who thought he had found a loophole in the
Bible, are trying to get the last drop of sin out of
that bottle just before death. God may accept their
plea, or he may not. I do know that I do not wish to
base MY eternal destiny on a quick deathbed sentence.
There are no loopholes in God's Law, only Salvation
for those who sincerely turn their entire heart, mind,
soul and body over to the Messiah. Then we can live
in the peace that our place in Heaven is assured, and
not base it on a loophole that may, or may not work.
