He Who Dies Holding the Master’s Hand Wins

"Jesus said to Him, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes to the Father but by Me. John 14:6 (KJV)

We have all seen them. The world’s dumbest bumper sticker. He who dies with the most toys wins. The ancient Egyptian Pharaohs tried that, thousands of years ago. Their conclusion; it doesn’t work. For the Pharaohs are dead, their mummified bodies are here, along with the riches they tried to take with them into the afterlife. In more modern times, folks have been buried in cars and trucks, on occasion. No one has yet found the empty hole where the car or truck used to be. Their possessions are buried with them, rotting away in a hole in the earth.

Jesus Christ died to make a way for us to get into Heaven, something we can not do on our own. This man, the only man to ever live a totally and completely sinless life, was bullwhipped, tortured, beaten, and crucified for OUR sins. He paid the price for our hate, our wicked minds, our stealing, our pride, our arrogance, our lying, our dishonoring our parents, and every other vile and filthy thing we did that violated Jehovah’s Law, and barred us from ever entering the Kingdom of Heaven.

Our Messiah did this because He loved us, and also, as the scripture states, because there was no other way for us to enter Heaven, and live forever with Him in Paradise. No, He who dies with the most toys does not win. Because when they stand in front of Almighty God at the final judgment, He will not ask how big their bass boat was, which tee of the golf course they lived off of, but, "Did you know my Son?" Those answering "no" will be told by Christ "Depart from me, I never knew you." No, their possessions did not help them win. But whoever dies holding that nail scarred hand of Our Master; he is the man that won.
