“So Moses held out his hand, and the Lord sent thunder and hail and lightening. It was terrible beyond description. Never in all the history of Egypt had there been a storm like that.” Exodus 9:23-24 (TLB)
If the Lord would just give me a sign, I would believe him. How many times have we, as believer’s, heard someone say that? How arrogant is that? We, the creation, demand signs and answers from Our Creator?! We want “proof” of a Bible Story, proof of a miracle Jesus performed. Jesus talked about a wicked generation, always wanting signs for this and signs for that. Our scientific curiosity causes many to lose their faith when something about the Bible is challenged on TV. Some see God’s signs in the clouds, concrete, and even wet asphalt.
Spiritual things can not be understood by those who have not accepted Jesus as their Messiah, and have not come to him like a trusting child. For it is the Holy Spirit that opens our hearts and minds to the mysteries of the Godhead. Don’t forget that Jesus said you must approach the Kingdom of Heaven as a child would, trusting and innocent.
While some are looking for signs as the paint dries in a church somewhere, God has already given us enough signs. Given us signs. The writings of the prophets, the Holy Bible, and the death and resurrection of Jesus are all the signs we need.
